Founder's Park

Founder's Park in Wylie re-opened about two months ago. We took the girls one evening to check out the changes, but managed to spend most of our time outside the main park area. Aaron wanted to check out what looks like some type of training course in an open field. The girls had a blast swinging from a wooden platform and my adventurous Makenzie just had to climb a wall with her daddy. Good thing we wore flip-flops--nothing like playing it safe!!

Tea Party

I think just about every time Makenzie's friend Kylie comes over, the girls ask to have a tea party. This time, I surprised them with cookies to go along with their "tea." I had to grab my camera because the girls apparently thought their attire was not appropriate at the start of the tea party. After digging through Makenzie's closet, the girls came back out and were ready to go. Notice the baby doll in the last picture-she too was a guest at their party.

Mav's Gear

The girls were encouraged to wear their favorite Mav's shirts during their last week at preschool. Since they didn't have a Maverick's shirt, their daddy took them shopping for some gear. Aaron didn't have much luck finding what I would call "girly" shirts in their sizes, but when paired with a skirt, pigtails, and some bows, these are pretty cute Mavs fans!

Ashlyn's 3rd Birthday

It's been a month since Ashlyn's 3rd birthday and I am just now getting around to updating our blog. I probably would have gone another month, but my friend Brook laughed at my poor blogging, so the pressure is on. I seriously don't know how she does it with three kids! I guess I am not using my time too wisely.
The four of us celebrated Ashlyn's 3rd birthday with a trip to Build A Bear. The girls had a hard time deciding on an animal, but in the end, Ashlyn chose a dog and Makenzie chose a wolf. The girls had an even harder time choosing just the right clothes for their animals and were not too thrilled when mom and dad limited each child to one outfit. Yet as I type this, I am pretty sure neither of their stuffed animals has clothes on-go figure! After dinner and some play time at the fountains in Allen, we headed home for presents and dessert. I think one of the cutest moments of the day was Makenzie's excitement at watching Ashlyn open the gift she picked out for her. Makenzie could not wait for Ashlyn to see her new baby doll. These are the moments you cherish as a parent!
Happy 3rd Birthday Ashlyn!! You continuously amaze us with your vocabulary. You make us laugh so much, especially at the dinner table with your silly expressions. You are obsessed with playing in our cars and pretending you are driving your "honeys" (baby dolls) to various places. You love being a big helper, especially to those who are younger than you. You are passionate about everything you do and want to do EVERYTHING by yourself. We are so blessed by your life!!

Loving Crafts

Makenzie loves her new crafts she received for her birthday. Here are a few pictures of Makenzie and her friend Kylie making cards and necklaces. I also went back to my photo library to see what pictures I have of these two girls together. My how they have changed and grown up! One of the things I enjoy most is listening to their conversations. They definitely keep me laughing!!!

Girls' Birthdays

We decided to combine the girls' birthdays this year and have a petting zoo party with all of their friends. Makenzie and Ashlyn love animals so they were very excited to spend the morning petting, holding, and feeding various animals. The particular petting zoo we booked through Cathy's Critters provided guinea pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits, pigs, a llama and a duck. They also provided all the feed, hand sanitizer, did the set up and clean up afterward, so other than making the cakes/cupcakes, we didn't have to do too much. The girls had a blast, but I'm pretty sure the animals were eager to return to their cages after 20+ kids handled them for over and hour!
I love the last picture of Grandma helping Ashlyn carry the goat back to the trailer as all the animals were rounded up to leave. I think for her, this was the highlight of the party!!!!
