Gotta Love Creamer

I discovered this coffee creamer months ago that has quickly become my favorite. It is Italian Sweet Cream and now comes in a large size. Well apparently, my 21 month old has taken a liking to it as I caught her standing on a chair at the counter guzzling it from the container. Seriously, I think she drank a 1/4 of it. I tried to explain to her that it isn't milk, and I truly believe she understand me....just really likes the sweet cream!!

Playing in the Snow

The snow continued to fall yesterday evening so as of this morning, we had 6 inches. Makenzie was eager to get outside and play in it so I bundled her up and off she went. Ashlyn on the other hand, was not the biggest fan. She did okay the first few minutes, but things began to go downhill quickly. I think she kept getting snow in her boots, so she would take them off (along with her socks) and stand barefoot in the snow. Soon, her feet began stinging and she started crying. That ended my outing with her, but Makenzie insisted on staying outside, so I let her for a little longer. We will definitely have to get proper attire, especially snow boots, before we take the girls to Colorado this next winter.

Snow, Snow, & More Snow

It's been snowing all day today. I am not sure exactly what time the snow started this morning, but it must have been pretty early given the amount accumulated on the ground as of 7:00am when I got out of bed. I went outside around 3:30pm and we had 4 1/2 inches already on the ground. It's now almost 5 and still snowing. Makenzie enjoyed plodding in the snow this morning and throwing snowballs at her mommy. Ashlyn just wanted to touch it with her bare hands. I am still trying to convince the two to go outside with me, but at the moment, they are content playing with their babies in Makenzie's room.

Valentine's Day Crafts

My friend Brook and her daughter Kylie came over last weekend to make Valentine's Day cards for the girls' school friends. I have to give all the credit to Brook since she thought of the idea. I have started to see this new side of her since she recently became a stay at home mom. She made Kylie's birthday invitations, decorated super cute cupcakes, is scrapbooking, etc. Can't say there is really a crafty bone in my body, but that is okay. At least I know who to call on when I need help!! I think the girls had a good time, although they had enough of the crafts before we actually completed all the cards. I think they were more excited about getting away from us and playing together. Brook and I went to check on the girls at one point b/c they were pretty quiet, and we found them in Makenzie's room playing with baby dolls and pretending to all be sleeping. Here are a few pics from the morning:

Movie Night with Makenzie

A few weeks ago, Aaron took Makenzie to Blockbuster to pick out a couple of movies for her first official movie night with mommy and daddy. He also let her pick out a special treat to share with me. Makenzie decided she wanted to watch 101 Dalmatians. I actually fell asleep for a short period of time (no surprise), but woke up to see the end. As part of her special night, we also let her sleep in our room on a pallet next to our bed. Not so sure that was the best idea, given that she has asked just about every night since then if she can sleep in our room. We have decided that next time, we will have a slumber party in the living room!!

Playdate with Ashton

So, I finally convinced my friend Stephanie to let me keep her son Ashton one morning in hopes that she could get some uninterrupted work accomplished. Makenzie was at PDO so it was just Ashlyn and Ashton. Ashton is just three months younger than Ashlyn and since the two have been around each other quite a bit, they had a great time playing. This was back in January, but I got some really cute pics of the kiddos playing.

When Your Words Come Back to Haunt You

I often find myself amused at the phrases coming from my girls' mouths. Sometimes, I wonder where they picked the phrases up; other times, I hear myself echoing through their innocent voices. This morning, Ashlyn dropped her paper towel on the floor, so I asked Makenzie if she would pick it up for her sister since I was getting breakfast ready. Makenzie sat still for a moment, not saying a word. So I asked again, this time, emphasizing that the paper towel was just below her feet and she just simply had to reach down and pick it up. Her response to me was so matter of fact, "but mom, Ashlyn has two legs." Hmm.........at that moment, I didn't know whether I should laugh or kick myself for being somewhat sarcastic to my child in the past......

One of the Sweetest Sounds...

is hearing your baby girl sing "Jesus Loves Me" while rocking her before bed. Another favorite of hers is "Jesus Loves the Little Children" except that Ashlyn wants me to insert her name instead of "children" as this is a version she is used to hearing me sing to her. Ashlyn is much more vocal than Makenzie was at this age. The words she is putting together to form small sentences amazes me. She loves to sing; so much, that if I start singing along with her, she asks me to stop b/c she wants to sing by herself. Ashlyn has also started praying on her own.....how my heart melts when she prays for her mommy, daddy, and big sister!
