Aaron was in Chicago for a week so the girls and I headed to Tomball to spend time with my family. We made our usual stop at the country so I could give the girls a car break, feed them lunch, and let them play before strapping them back in for the remainder car trip. We were expecting to see my dad, but he was out looking at some property for cattle. So the girls and I played a little and then headed to my sisters. We spent the week playing at parks and swimming at Heather's neighborhood pool. I convinced my sister to let us have Madelyn on Tuesday while she worked so that Madelyn could play with Makenzie instead of going to school. I took the girls to the park which was extremely hot, but the girls seemed to have a great time. We ended our trip with one last stop at the country, spending the morning looking at baby chickens, horses, cows, playing on the slip and slide, and swimming. Here are some pictures of our trip...

Makenzie's Words
So, toddlers are pretty smart. As I was cleaning up after dinner, I noticed that Makenzie was helping Ashlyn hit herself while she waited to be let loose of her booster chair (poor Ashlyn). I said "Makenzie, we do not do that, do you understand?" Silence. I continue by saying, "Makenzie, say I understand mommy." Makenzie responds "Mommy, I DO NOT understand." I reply, "okay, then you can go sit in time out and spend some time understanding." Makenzie replies, "mommy, I DO understand!" One day I will enjoy laughing at all of this............

Ashlyn's Favorite Outside Spot
Ashlyn has discovered a new spot to play and sit in, which is our bicycle trailer. The girls and I were outside the other day when I stepped out into the yard for Makenzie to show me something. I turned around and didn't immediately see Ashlyn and when I said, "Makenzie, where is Ashlyn?" we see her peek out of the trailer. Maybe this is her subtle way of letting me know she wants a ride!

Attempts to Get a Good Picture
We have been trying for some time now to get a good picture of the girls together. Makenzie doesn't really like taking pictures, and Ashlyn doesn't care for Makenzie putting her arm around her to take one. So, we usually get one girl posing okay, but not the other. I thought I would try one more time with their new outfits from my friend Ali, but this was the best I could get.....I finally resorted to individual pictures...
